Visit Lincoln Partnership
The Visit Lincoln Partnership approached us with an ambitious project - to create a brand new tourism site to promote the city of Lincoln and all it has to offer. The site had a variety of functions it had to fulfil: publicise events, local businesses and attractions, news and press articles and appeal to a wide range of target audiences - from prospective visitors, to local residents, to students and professionals. Interactivity is key to this site - and with blog articles, social following and sharing links and DISQUS commenting functionality - this site gives users both a wealth of new content and allows them to get involved in discussion.
Working within the official brand guidelines, we created a site which not only contains a large amount of valuable text content related to travel and city information, but also contains a great deal of different features and functionality to maximise the user experience.
Mobile-friendly and browser tested to work on a variety of devices, the site allows users to create their own travel itineraries with the 'Planner' function and also integrates with customised Google maps - to allow users to plan activities and get directions to, and around, the city of Lincoln both from home and on the go.
Integration with a variety of different modules gives the site earning potential - allowing them to make money through advertising opportunities, replacing an existing e-commerce site to retail souvenirs, e-commerce functionality to allow the sale of tickets to local events and local tourism passes and finally integration to allow users to search and book hotel rooms directly from the site. Additionally, businesses who choose to get involved with the site are even given their own user accounts - to allow them to edit and maximise their own content.
